7 Beautiful Dog-Friendly Beaches in Rhode Island (2024 Update)

Rhode Island might be the smallest state in the US but with more than 400 miles of coastline, there are plenty of sandy beaches to be enjoyed by visitors and, in some cases, their dogs. However, not all beaches allow dogs at all times of the year, and it is always worth checking before you visit, to avoid being asked to leave or finding that you have to locate another beach to take a much-needed walk.

Below, we have found seven dog-friendly beaches in Rhode Island, including, where the information is available, the times when dogs are permitted.

Conclusion

Some of the beaches in Rhode Island have lifeguards during the season and do attract a cost to visit, but some also offer free access to local residents. The popularity of the beaches, as well as their amenities, also means that dogs may be restricted during the summer months but free to visit off-season. None of the beaches we have seen allow dogs to roam off-leash and all require that dogs be kept on a leash, and owners should always clean up after their dogs.
