Pit Bulls are outstanding guard dogs, and when thoroughly trained, they make loyal family dogs. When you mix these adorable pups with other breeds, the results are often spectacular! Keep in mind that we’re referring to the American Pit Bull Terrier for these mixes, and while we used specific names to describe the dogs below, many designer breeds have multiple names.

For instance, we referred to the Pit Bull/Shar-Pei mix as a Sharpull, but another common name is the Pit Pei. Neither is wrong, but like many purebred and mixed breeds, they have several names!

The 22 Pitbull Mixes Are:

1. Beagle Bull (Beagle x Pitbull Mix)

With floppy Beagle ears and an adorable Pit Bull and Beagle demeanor, it’s no wonder the Beagle Bull is taking the world by storm. They’re easy to take care of, if a bit stubborn and full of energy. If you plan to adopt a Beagle Bull, be prepared to give them plenty of exercise. They can become stressed and destructive if they cannot burn off their energy.

2. Dox Bull (Dachshund x Pitbull Mix)

It’s a bit of an odd pairing, but can you argue with the adorableness of the results? The Dox Bull has a massive head, long body, and short legs, which gives a unique but cute look. However, this is an incredibly stubborn breed, and their coat can vary because Dachshunds can have three types.

3. Pitador (Labrador x Pitbull Mix)

If you get a Pitador that retains their Labrador Retriever nature, you’re getting one of the most loyal dogs on the planet. But remember that Pit Bulls and Labrador Retrievers are incredibly energetic, and their offspring need at least an hour or more of daily exercise.

However, they’re great with families and kids and extremely loyal. They’re also incredibly protective, and they’ll be as devoted to your kids as you are!

4. Pituahua (Chihuahua x Pit Bull Mix)

The Pituahua is an odd pairing; they’re a mix between a Pitbull and a Chihuahua. A Pituahua can be as small as 15 pounds, but they can be as large as 35 pounds. Their size depends on which parent they take after. They’re great with families, kids, and other pets. They just want to stay in the action!

5. Aussie Cattle Pit (Pit Bull x Australian Cattle Dog)

These spotted dogs are among the most adorable canines. However, Aussie Cattle Pits are high-energy pups, combining the hyper personality of a Cattle Dog with the playful nature of the Pit Bull. But remember that the Australian Cattle Dog is a working dog and needs a purpose.

We recommend this adorable mix only if you have plenty of land to let them run around and play.

6. Golden Pit (Golden Retriever x Pit Bull Mix)

Golden Retrievers are incredibly loyal dogs that pair well with Pit Bulls. They’re loving, loyal, and energetic enough to join you on jogs and hikes. They’re also large canines that need plenty of space to roam and explore.

7. Pitsky (Pit Bull x Husky)

Few breeds have as much of a cult following as the Husky and the Pit Bull, so it’s no surprise that they’re so popular. Pitskies are brilliant and loyal, but their appearance can vary drastically. They can either inherit a Husky coat or the Pit Bull style, and they can also inherit a Husky’s more exotic eyes.

Pitskies are great with older kids and families, though they certainly have a stubborn streak. If you have the space, they can be a great addition to the family.

8. Pug Pit (Pit Bull x Pug)

While you may not have considered adopting a Pug Pit before, once you’ve seen one, you’ll see why they’re so popular. These slightly odd-looking but adorable pups are the perfect solution for those in a smaller living space.

They still need plenty of exercise, and you must be careful if they inherit the Pug’s flat face. Brachycephalic dogs have more trouble breathing when it’s hot and humid.

9. Box Bull (Boxer x Pit Bull Mix)

Box Bulls are not for the faint of heart. Experienced dog owners can put them in check, but they like to lead the pack. Still, they’re incredibly loyal and powerful dogs, making them excellent guard dogs for the home.

Remember, they need a great deal of physical activity, between 1 to 2 hours daily!

10. Porgi (Pit Bull x Corgi)

Porgis are among the most beautiful Pit Bull mixes. However, the Corgi is a herding dog, which means they can nip at kids to guide them around. Porgis can inherit the trait, but you can control it with the proper training.

Once you train them, they have a playful demeanor that makes them a great addition to any family!

11. Collie Pit (Pit Bull x Border Collie)

There are few breeds as intelligent as the Border Collie, and when you mix them with a Pit Bull, you get a loyal and intelligent dog. However, the Collie Pit is likely to be just as energetic and many need up to 2 hours of daily exercise.

These dogs are great with kids but may herd or hunt smaller pets in the house.

12. Great Danebull (Pit Bull x Great Dane)

Do you want a large dog? The Great Danebull is an outstanding choice. They are a Great Dane and Pit Bull mix and can weigh 90 pounds and reach 28” tall, making them one of the most massive Pit Bull mixes out there. However, don’t let their large size fool you; they’re lapdogs at heart and love attention.

They’re great with families and other pets, but their size can make them dangerous to smaller animals, if only because they might accidentally step on them.

13. Pit Shepherd (Pit Bull x German Shepherd)

If you’re looking for an intelligent and loyal guard dog, the Pit Shepherd is a great choice. However, they are more suitable for experienced pet owners because they’re a bit temperamental. They’re also not the best around kids because they lack patience.

14. Bully Pit (Pit Bull x Bull Dog)

Few dogs have as much of a size variance as Bully Pits. They can weigh as little as 40 pounds, but on the larger side, they can get up to 100 pounds! They’re high-energy dogs that require at least an hour of daily exercise or more.

While they have a more fierce appearance, they’re incredibly gentle and loving dogs, making them an excellent choice for families.

15. Sharpull (Pit Bull x Shar Pei)

Sharpulls are a relatively new mix with a wide variance in appearance and temperament. You’ll likely get an independent and stubborn dog, though they can be trainable with persistence. They are relatively low-maintenance pets, even though they shed a decent amount. They’re loyal and intelligent, so it’s not hard to see why they’re so loved.

16. Chow Pit (Pit Bull x Chow Chow)

With a Chow Pit, you can either get the outgoing and loyal temperament of the Pit Bull or the shy and wary behavior of the Chow Chow. It’s impossible to know what you’ll get ahead of time, making it important to get to know the dog instead of relying on general breed information.

17. Aussie Pit (Pit Bull x Australian Shepherd)

Australian Shepherds are intelligent and loyal dogs, and although Pit Bulls don’t rate as high on the intelligence scale, they’re just as loyal. No matter which parent your Aussie Pit takes after, you’ll have a faithful and energetic dog. However, they’re not suitable for small living spaces and need a large fenced-end yard to burn off their energy.

18. Pitweiler (Rottweiler x Pit Bull Mix)

Pitweilers make excellent guard dogs, but they have a bit of a stubborn streak. Therefore, it’s best if you leave Pitweilers to experienced pet owners. They weigh up to 100 pounds and need consistent training to help them become well-behaved pups. They’re extremely smart, so once you get past the stubborn streak, they’re relatively easy to train.

19. Boston Pit (Pit Bull x Boston Terrier)

Whether you have a family or live alone, a Boston Pit is a great choice. However, they need plenty of exercise, although they can adapt to living in an apartment. Remember that if you’re living in an apartment, you will need to spend even more time on walks and getting them out.

20. Pitmation (Pit Bull x Dalmatian)

As a gorgeous but temperamental dog, the Pitmation isn’t ideal for first-time owners. They require a firm hand when training, so it’s best to leave them to experienced owners. Still, they’re loyal and excellent guard dogs if you can take the time to train them.

21. Mastibull (Pit Bull x Mastiff)

If you think that other Pit Bull mixes are big, take a look at the Mastibull. These lovable giants can weigh over 150 pounds! They love their families and do great with children, but because of their large size, you must be careful with tiny kids.

Although they’re large, they need plenty of exercise. They need space to roam, and a large backyard is ideal for them.

22. Doberman Pit (Pit Bull x Doberman)

Few pups look as regal as the Doberman Pit. But underneath that regal appearance is a high-energy dog that doesn’t like training. Although you can get through to them with persistence and a steady hand, they’re difficult to train.

They’re stubborn and smart, and they’re not the ideal pets for first-time owners.

Final Thoughts

Despite the Pit Bull’s unfair reputation, they’re incredibly loyal and loving dogs that are great with families. With so many outstanding traits, it’s no wonder that they’re mated with various breeds to retain the admirable traits of the Pit Bull. Pit Bull mixes make excellent pets, but most of the dogs we discussed are more suitable for experienced dog owners.
