  • About Jinx Products

Essentially, a group of dog lovers decided they wanted to create a well-rounded dry kibble for their dogs. Working with nutritionists and experts, the creators of Jinx agreed that they would give the dogs a perfectly crafted dry kibble diet to change the ballgame.

Up against the wall competing against raw and homemade diets, Jinx stands by the practicality and effectiveness of serving your dogs dry kibble. They make a robust argument, and we agree with most of their values.

It seems dog owners everywhere are looking for cleaner options for their pets, even in traditional dry kibble. This brand surely fits the bill if you want a brand that doesn’t skimp on nutrition—staying away from unwanted fillers, dyes, and artificial flavors.

Who Makes Jinx and Where Is it Produced?

Compelled to create a better diet for dogs, co-founders Terri Rockivich, Sameer Mehta, and Michael Kim got their heads together. Jinx was launched in 2020, so it is a newly established company making waves in the pet food industry.

All Jinx recipes are crafted right in the USA. Transparency is super important to the company, and it shows in its sales and satisfied customer base.

Which Types of Pets is Jinx Best Suited For?

Jinx aims to provide recipes for both daily diets and treats to feed dogs during any life stage. While the recipes might be slightly limited until the company grows, they have something for just about any canine to enjoy.

Because Jinx covers every dog breed in size–from puppy to senior, toy breed to large—almost any dog can find value in the contents.

However, we have to point out that this is still a new and growing food line that will likely have many other recipe options in the future, so keep your eyes peeled.

    Discussion of the Primary Ingredients

We received quite a comprehensive sampler of all of Jinx’s goodies. We already loved what we saw with one quick sweep of the ingredients on the packages. You can tell that Jinx aims to create flavorful, savory dry dog foods and snacks without any potentially harmful additives.

In a world where fresh, raw, and freeze-dried dog foods dominate the market, Jinx is holding their own with well-researched kibble and treat recipes—and here’s what’s inside the bag.

Jinx All Smiles Limited Ingredient Chews: The Effectiveness

Jinx All Smiles Limited Ingredient Chews

Jinx All Smiles Limited Ingredient Chews are firm, sizable dental chews your dog can crunch on for several minutes. They make great snacks to savor instead of being wolfed down in one bite.

Touting only four ingredients, the transparency is appreciated. This recipe is easy to digest and has the perfect texture for removing plaque buildup.

To be upfront, this snack was the least appealing for our dogs. However, if you have a pretty sensitive dog, this limited ingredient snack might be just what they need.

Ingredients: Sweet Potato, Chicken, Honey, Peppermint Oil
    Crude Protein: 15%
    Crude Fat: 1%
    Crude Fiber: 5%
    Moisture: 15%

Sweet potato is easily digestible and nutrient-rich. It is dense in fiber, vitamins, and minerals—considered a major superfood for pups and people alike.

Chicken is a common protein source that gives your dogs just what they need for healthy muscles, coats, and skin.

Honey is a superfood snack for dogs. Terrific in moderation, this nutrient-packed ingredient can reap some great rewards.  It has terrific Antifungal and antiseptic properties.

Peppermint oil seems to be a controversial ingredient in these dental chews. While the company aims to add minty freshness to the mix, peppermint oil can be harmful to pets in large doses.

So, say perhaps they got into an entire bag and ate them all—maybe you’d have a little problem. But the small quantity in these treats shouldn’t have any significant effects. Just be sure to put them up when not in use.

    Jinx Tenders: Texture, Quality, Flavors

    jinx tenders beef jerky recipe

Our pups absolutely adored Jinx Tenders. Each flavor they snacked on had an excellent aroma, texture, and moistness—plus, they were the perfect size for proper portioning.

You can offer up one square as a single snack or section the square for quick bite-size treats. They also have bite-sized treat options available for immediate rewards.

We love that you can really make the bag stretch if you piece the snacks out, making it an impeccable value.

Jinx Chicken & Sweet Potato Tenders

    • Ingredients: Chicken, Ground grain Sorghum, Coconut Glycerin, Sweet Potato, Gelatin, Dried Citrus Pulp, Salt, Citric Acid, Vinegar, Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary extract

Chicken is the prime protein source here, offering lean muscle mass and delicious flavor to an easy-to-digest recipe.

Ground grain sorghum is a grain alternative without gluten, so safe for a majority of canines.

Coconut glycerin is an excellent additive, providing a solid carbohydrate source without any sugar spikes in the blood.

Sweet potato is a powerful superfood stuffed with vitamins and minerals to nourish your dog’s body. But the main upside is the high fiber content to create an easy digestion experience.

    Jinx Beef Jerky Tenders

    • Ingredients: Beef, beef liver, ground grain sorghum, coconut glycerin, gelatin, dried citrus pulp, cane molasses, salt, citric acid, vinegar, mixed tocopherols

Beef is the first ingredient and seems to be the primary texture in the treat. Beef has excellent health benefits for dogs, such as high protein, zinc, iron, selenium, and vitamins B12, B6, and B3.

Beef organs boost valuable nutrients, like vitamin A, riboflavin, folate, vitamin B12, and copper.

Ground grain sorghum is a gluten-free grain that offers a variety of benefits, rich in B1, niacin, zinc, iron, and fiber.

Pearled barley is an easily digestible grain that helps reduce blood pressure and promotes heart health.

Ground peas are a controversial ingredient due to potential links to heart problems and grain-free recipes. But luckily, when accompanied by grains and a daily diet, peas are highly beneficial to dogs providing antioxidants, protein, vitamin C, and zinc.

Brown rice is commonly selected in recipes where dogs can be sensitive to common grains. It’s a great alternative to corn, wheat, and soy, appealing to a wider variety of nutritional requirements from sensitive dogs.

Chicken fat is full of omega-6 fatty acids and is great for your dog’s skin and coat.

Oat groats are a terrific alternative grain for gluten-sensitive pups.

Turkey meal is an excellent source of riboflavin, protein, and phosphorus.

Jinx Products’ Rigid Recipe Selections: Good or Bad?

Jinx has very straightforward values and a clear-blue mission—give dogs safe, nutritious diets with a long shelf life. So, that’s what their product line aims to do.

Using dry kibble main diets and a variety of yummy snacks, Jinx offers quite a comprehensive selection as far as the ingredients go. However, they are up against many innovative dietary choices for canines, so they might have to mold slightly to the changes.

two dogs at the front of jinx kibble and treats

    Jinx’s Argument for Dry Kibble

Jinx is very set in their ways about their dietary selections—kibble all the way! They make it very clear that fresh foods have too many pitfalls to be totally safe for your canine companions.

Jinx claims that fresh options pose additional health concerns for your dog since it’s so easy for the contents to spoil. That makes preparation a little bit more time-consuming and calls for more attention than pouring kibble in a bowl.

If not adequately cooked, fresh dog foods can give your dog a variety of belly upset such as infections with E. coli, salmonella, and other issues.

Dry kibble takes all of the concern out of that category, providing a well-rounded, nutritionally balanced, perfectly cooked meal with a very long shelf life and dental hygiene perks.

    Verdict on Product Line

We want to clarify that we are very much a fan of fresh dog food brands. But Jinx makes some valuable arguments that show kibble is just as relevant and beneficial. We think that Jinx has fulfilled its mission, creating more than suitable recipes for dogs.

Only time will tell if they can withstand the ever-expanding dietary changes in the market for pets. But we think that with their outstanding customer service and clean, well-researched food recipes, they definitely will thrive in this industry.

Of the two Jinx daily dry kibble recipes we had the pleasure of reviewing, our pups preferred Jinx All Life Stages Chicken Brown Rice Sweet Potato Recipe. This recipe had great texture, pup-approved flavor, and excellent ingredients. It’s an ideal formula for a daily diet.

This recipe is baked into perfect bite-size pieces, making it easy for most dogs to chew. This particular formula is for all life stages, meaning you can feed this recipe to them all their lives with no consequence.

Overall, the kibble seemed delightful to our pups, and they ate it up without a complaint. We think that this recipe would be pleasurable to most dogs who aren’t picky—but might not work for dogs with sensitive teeth.

If you choose to feed this recipe to a dog with dental problems, we recommend softening it with water or canine-friendly broth.

    Our Experience With Jinx

There are definitely a lot of things we liked about Jinx. We appreciate their values as they uphold their mission. We admit they make compelling points about pet nutrition. If you plan on going with dry kibble, you get ingredients that are well thought out and come from quality sources.

    Shipment and Presentation

As a company, we were pleased with the ordering experience. The shipment was fast, and the boxed contents were organized and completely intact. Overall, the delivery process was favorable, and we definitely recommend ordering on the comprehensive website–it’s a breeze.

    Flavors, Textures, and Tastes

When it comes to Sid and Clementine, our wonderful “guinea pigs” pugs, they all really enjoyed everything they got to try out from Jinx.

As we mentioned earlier in the article, they were least crazy about the dental chews when put to the test. However, they still finished every last morsel—only after they knew no tender jerky bites were available.

On that note, our dogs loved the jerky chews most of all. They are a savory choice with grit and texture for a delicious reward. We have definitely tried some snacks in the past, and this gets raving reviews from our furry friends.

The dry kibble worked well for us, although each pup favored the chicken recipe over salmon (though it was a close call.) Sid, our picky pug, seemed to really enjoy the flavor and texture of the dry kibble, even though he isn’t a big fan of dry dog food. If you have his vote, there must be something to it.

    Quantity and Quality

We think that the quality of Jinx products is outstanding. The amount per bag is also favorable compared with similar products on the market. Each kibble and treat recipe was entirely well thought out with traceable ingredients and made in the USA.

We like the transparency behind every product line component and were satisfied with our purchase. We think that the value is worth the price.

    Conclusion

In a world where fresh food seems to be taking over the pet food market, Jinx stands strong about their belief in dry kibble and formulas that benefit all dogs. While we don’t advocate one way or another that there are many downsides to kibble or fresh, it all comes down to preference.

If you are trying to find the best kibble you can get, Jinx should definitely be on your list of considerations. However, if you’re looking for something fresher, it doesn’t look like Jinx will be changing its product line anytime soon.

We look forward to seeing how Jinx evolves in the future!
