Who Makes Loyall Life, and Where Is It Produced?

Loyall Life dog food is made by Nutrena, which is an animal feed company that was first put into motion in 1920. They’re owned by Cargill and have been one of their brands since 1945. They not only provide food to dogs but also cats, horses, poultry, cattle, pigs, llamas, alpacas, rabbits, sheep, and goats. Loyall Life is one of three brands under Nutrena, with the others being Loyall Pet Foods and River Run Dog Foods.

Loyall Life is the premium line of pet food from Nutrena, which was launched in 2007. This line offers 15 recipes for pet owners to choose from, with two of those 15 recipes formulated for cats. They offer puppy, adult, and all life stages options, as well as formulas for large breeds. They offer both grain-free and grain-inclusive options.

Loyall Life is produced in the United States. Most of the ingredients are sourced from the United States, too, with some imported from other countries. However, they are big on food safety and work closely with their suppliers to make sure all the ingredients they receive are of high quality and have gone through the proper controls and food safety procedures before they use them in their formulas.

Which Type of Dog Is Loyall Life Best Suited For?

Loyall Life is an excellent dog food option for pet owners that want a highly nutritious dog food that has high-quality animal protein as the first ingredient in every recipe. Loyall Life’s formulas have been created using real science with the help of their team of animal nutritionists. If you’re looking for a long-standing animal feed company you can trust, consider Nutrena Loyall Life dog food.

If your dog has sensitivities, consider Loyall Life’s Sensitive Skin & Coat Adult Salmon & Oatmeal Recipe, which is a new recipe that has been crafted to meet the needs of dogs with skin sensitivities. Otherwise, consider any of their grain-free options for dogs that are allergic to grain-inclusive recipes.

Which Type of Dog Might Do Better With a Different Brand?

Although Loyall Life caters to all dogs, smaller breeds may do better on another dog food brand that has recipes specifically created for their jaw size. Although they have puppy, adult, and all life stage formulas, they don’t have one for senior dogs.

Dogs that need health or breed-specific choices will do better on recipes catering to their specific needs, as Loyall Life doesn’t have a large range of specialized diets. Loyall Life offers premium food which comes at a fairly high price—customers on a tighter budget will do better with more affordable brands.

Discussion of the Primary Ingredients (Good & Bad)

    Loyall Life Dog Food Breakdown

Loyall Life offers both grain-free and grain-inclusive recipes. For this breakdown, we’ll be looking into their grain-inclusive option.

The first ingredient in every Loyall Life recipe is a meat protein, with some recipes listing a meat meal as the second ingredient. Meat meals are concentrated meat and are high in protein. The first two ingredients provide dogs with plenty of protein and amino acids which are necessary for tissue repair, immune system health, and much more. No meat by-products are used in their recipes.

This grain-inclusive line lists sorghum as its third ingredient, which provides many vitamins and minerals to the recipe. It’s also a source of protein, fiber, and antioxidants.

The fiber present in their recipes is usually from sweet potatoes, brown rice, and beet pulp. These high-fiber ingredients contribute to good digestion and weight management and can even help dogs with diabetes as it keeps the blood sugar at a regular level.

Loyall Life also has fruits and vegetables in their dog food recipes, some of which include carrots and blueberries.

Their recipes do tend to contain a few controversial ingredients such as brewer’s rice, dried peas, dried plain beet pulp, dried tomato and apple pomace, and sodium selenite.

    Other Benefits

On top of using high-quality ingredients in their nutritious recipes, Loyall Life also contains TruMune powder, which is made up of multiple bioactive compounds to reduce oxidative stress, maintain immune health, and contribute to digestive health.

None of their recipes include corn, wheat, soy, artificial flavors, and preservatives, but they do contain added prebiotics and probiotics for good gut health.

Reviews of the 3 Best Loyall Life Dog Food Recipes

We like all of Loyall Life’s recipes but have listed our favorite three for you below:

    1. Loyall Life All Life Stages Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Dog Food

    Loyall Life All Life Stages

Loyall Life All Life Stages Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Dog Food has a crude protein content of 26% and a crude fat content of 16%. Chicken is listed as the first ingredient, and chicken meal is listed as the second. Fish meal is another animal protein that makes up this recipe, contributing to its high protein content.

Beneficial ingredients such as fish oil, which contains omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, contribute to the hydration, health, and shine of a dog’s coat and skin. The prebiotics and probiotics contribute to a healthy gut. The fruits and vegetables provide their bodies with vitamins and minerals, and the fiber helps with good digestion. You may struggle to find this food at your local pet store, so be sure to order it in advance as it takes a while to be delivered.

    Pros
    • High in protein
    • Animal protein is the first ingredient
    • Omegas 3 and 6 contribute to a healthy coat
    • Contains fruit and vegetables
    Cons
    • Not easily accessible

    2. Loyall Life Grain Free Beef & Sweet Potato Dog Food

    Loyall Life Grain Free Beef

Loyall Life offers both grain-inclusive and grain-free recipes, such as this Loyall Life Grain Free Beef & Sweet Potato Dog Food. The crude protein content is 28%, and the crude fat content is 14%. The first five ingredients are beef, dried peas, pea starch, beef meal, and fish meal. Both the beef and fish meals are high in protein. We’d prefer not to see peas listed within the first four ingredients as this indicates a high number of legumes in the recipe, which has been associated with heart disease by the FDA; however, studies are ongoing to confirm if this is indeed the case.

This recipe is a great alternative for dogs with allergies to grain and chicken. Calcium and phosphorous are beneficial for bone development, and the DHA is vital for brain and vision function. There is a high number of vitamins and minerals due to the pumpkin, spinach, and blueberries in this recipe.

    Pros
    • Grain-free option
    • High in protein
    • Contains plenty of animal protein
    • Includes superfoods that are high in vitamins and minerals
    Cons
    • Contains a high number of legumes

    3. Loyall Life Adult Lamb & Rice Dog Food

    Loyall Life Adult Lamb

Our last recipe on our list is the Loyall Life Adult Lamb & Rice Dog Food. Slightly lower in protein than the other recipes on our list, the crude protein content is 23%, with a crude fat content of 14%. The first few ingredients are lamb meal, whole grain sorghum, whole ground barley, and chicken fat. The lamb meal is high in protein, while the sorghum is high in fiber and antioxidants. Chicken fat is high in omega fatty acids and brings the shine out of your dog’s coat and provides them with energy.

The fruits and vegetables included are carrots, sweet potatoes, and blueberries. There are no by-products, corn, soy, or wheat. For dogs with protein allergies, this is a great recipe to try. Some customers have noticed that the packaging for this food sometimes arrives damaged.

    Pros
    • High in antioxidants and omega fatty acids
    • Includes fruits and vegetables
    • Animal protein is used
    Cons
    • Slightly lower protein content
