What Are the Grooming Prices at Pet Supplies Plus?

The price for grooming will vary depending on several main factors—the groomer doing the job, the time it takes to groom, and the breed and size of your pup.

The general rule is the smaller your dog is, the cheaper the groom will be. This makes sense when you consider that chihuahuas will have much less surface area to groom than a malamute.

There are exceptions to this rule, however, as some smaller breeds do have more complex grooming needs.

A full-service groom (bath, haircut, nail trim, and ear cleaning) for a miniature poodle starts at $72. A bath and brush for that same breed is $55. The same services for a Short-Coated Chihuahua would be $61 and $33 respectively. Though these dogs are roughly the same size, the services will cost more for a miniature poodle as their grooming requires special care and attention.

A full-service groom for a medium-sized dog like an Australian Shepherd would be $94. Bathing and brushing ring up at $72.

One should expect to pay much more for the same services for a large-sized dog breed like an Alaskan Malamute. A full-service groom for this breed would be $165 and just a bath and brush costs $138.

As you can see, the price for grooming truly depends on the breed, size, and coat.

The packages and add-on prices are roughly the same regardless of breed. Here is a quick breakdown of what you can expect to pay for these extras:

De-Shed Deluxe  $30
VIP  $30
De-Shed Plus  $25
Spaw Upgrade  $20
Spoiled Puppy Upgrade  $15
Oatmeal shampoo  $11.50
Skunk treatment  $19.50
Gland cleaning  $8
Nail trim  $14
Teeth brushing  $10
Paw wax application  $5

Packages

The Full-Service package will provide the best value. It includes bathing, brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and a haircut of your choosing.

Bath packages will include all of the above minus the haircut.

If you want to treat your pup to a truly luxurious day at the doggy spa, you can upgrade to an exclusive package.

The Grooming VIP package includes hair rejuvenation, paw revitalization, skin treatments, nail grinding, and teeth brushing.

The Dog Spaw Upgrade will include a luxury shampooing of your choosing, teeth brushing, and nail grinding.

The De-Shed Deluxe Package is perfect for dogs with thick undercoats who shed a lot. It includes a shampoo and conditioner specially formulated for de-shedding purposes while adding strength to the root of your pup’s hair. It also includes nail grinding and teeth brushing.

Finally, the De-Shed Plus Package includes the same deshedding shampoo and conditioner as the above package.  With this option, though, you will choose between nail grinding or teeth brushing.

Pet Supplies Plus also offers packages specifically tailored for puppies and seniors. The puppy upgrade includes nail grinding, teeth brushing, and an upgraded shampoo. The package for seniors is perfect for those dogs with arthritis or joint issues. The groomer will use a CBD oil shampoo to provide relief for their aching joints. The package also includes a skin-soothing treatment, nail filing, tooth gel, a scented spray, and a bow/bandana.

Add-Ons

If you can not afford the package prices, you might consider splurging on an add-on instead. Pet Supplies Plus offers several different add-ons depending on your dog’s specific needs.

Do your walks involve a variety of different terrains? You might add the Paw Wax Application to your grooming service to safeguard your dog’s paws from gravel, asphalt, snow, and hot pavement.

Has your dog been doing the bum scoot on your carpet at home? He may need to get his anal glands expressed. This is best left to the professionals if you have never been taught how to do it so let the groomers at Pet Supplies Plus can do it for you.

Have you had a run-in with a skunk and no home remedies are working? The groomers can give your pup the Skunk Treatment to help eliminate and neutralize the offensive odors.

If your pup has been suffering from itchy or dry skin, a Medicated Oatmeal Treatment might be just what he needs to find relief. This treatment will replenish both his skin and his coat for a soft and silky result. You might also consider the Skin Works Treatment to help moisturize his skin and soften calluses. This treatment will include a small jar of ointment to take home, too.

Can’t I Groom My Dog Myself?

You certainly can groom your dog yourself at home if you have the confidence and supplies. That said, sometimes it’s best to leave the grooming to the professionals to save you both time and energy.

Groomers have all the right tools necessary to get your pup looking his best. They know which products and tools to use depending on your dog’s fur and breed and know what steps to take if your pup has sensitive skin. They’re not afraid to get dirty and won’t balk at anal gland expression or flea removal.

If you don’t have the space at home, you can also take your dog to Pet Supplies Plus and bathe them there as many of the stores have a self-service dog-washing station. It costs $10 to ‘rent’ this station for yourself and your pup and will provide access to all the supplies you need to complete the bathing process.
