A very popular breed among dogs with short legs, French Bulldogs are an affectionate breed that loves attention. They are sociable and get along with almost anyone they meet! These bulldogs may be tiny, but they are built like a tank with incredible strength. Their short legs are even more pronounced because of their muscular and stocky build, which totally adds to a Frenchie’s charm!


2. Basset Hound

The floppy-eared Basset Hound is another beautiful dog with tiny legs. Basset Hounds are known for their long bodies, short legs, as well as their droopy faces.

Matching their facial expressions, they also tend to be stubborn. Basset Hounds are popular as hunting dogs, but their calm and laid-back nature makes them perfect family pets.

Compared to the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, the Pembroke has a tail close to its body and is smaller in size. With their short legs and stuffed chest, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is full of energy and strength. Its posture exudes confidence while showing off its perpetually standing ears!

The second Corgi on the list is the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, which is slightly larger than the Pembroke with a distinct fox-like tail. Cardigan Welsh Corgis were also bred for herding cattle, with physically strong features that include their stuffed chest, sturdy bones, and—you guessed it—their short legs!

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi is an easily trainable, cheerful, and loyal guardian that exudes a level of confidence as if it were three times bigger than its size. It makes an excellent family dog and requires activity and stimulation in their daily routine.

The name, Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, loosely translates to “small”, “low”, “shaggy”, and Vendéen—which explains that the breed is a tiny hound from the region of Vendée, France.

Although no longer used for hunting, their hunting instincts, durability, and cheerful attitude make them excellent family dogs that work well with children! They also work in packs, making them sociable and easy to get along with other animals.
