Keeping up with your dog’s dental health can be a chore. Daily brushing is difficult to fit into busy schedules and annual dentals are costly. What if there was an easier way to keep your dog’s teeth white and their breath fresh?

This is the question PetLab Co. set out to answer when they created ProBright. This simple supplement is as easy as it gets for keeping your dog’s teeth healthy. Simply pour a scoop over your dog’s food once a day.

The special blend of holistic ingredients and probiotics work to destroy bad breath causing bacteria and soften plaque. And it does all this without you have to raise a finger (or a toothbrush!).

I recently started my dog, Ragz, on ProBright with hopes it might help with her severe dental problems. After oral surgery to extract over half her teeth a few years ago, she doesn’t have many teeth left to take care of. Unfortunately, a genetic predisposition to periodontal disease has made keeping even those few teeth healthy a struggle.

After a month on ProBright, I am happy to report a noticeable improvement in her symptoms and in her “death breath.” Keep reading to see what makes this pet oral care product different and to read my full PetLab Co. ProBright review.

Overview

PetLab Co. ProBright - product container

Here is an overview ProBright, one of PetLab Co.’s most popular products. We’ll look at what goes into this supplement, how to use it, and when to expect results.

Ingredients

This powerful supplement contains six natural active ingredients that work with your dog’s system to keep teeth healthy and fight bad breath.

ProBright also contains three inactive ingredients: calcium bentonite, dried brewer’s yeast, and spinach powder. These all-natural additives help add bulk while providing their own benefits to overall health.

How To Use It

PetLab Co. makes it very easy to use this product.

First thing you need to do is choose the right size for your pup. Their small size is formulated specifically for dogs under 25 pounds. The medium size is for dogs between 25 and 75 pounds. And their large size is for dogs over 75 pounds.

These different formulation were created to make dosing that much easier. For each of them, you only have to give a single scoop of the powder once daily.

I simply added the powder to my dog’s food and mixed it with a little water. It has a very distinct kelpy taste to it, but my dog did not seem to mind it at all.

When to Expect Results

You can expect to begin to see results with this product after about four to twelve weeks. PetLab Co. recommends using it consistently along with a healthy diet.

I began to notice a difference in Ragz’s oral hygiene after about two weeks on the product. Her teeth looked noticeably cleaner before I brushed them each day. And that slimy, yellow film that would form if I missed a day of brushing was no longer apparent. It took about another week before I started to notice a positive change in her stinky breath.

In Summary

Pros
  • Six proven ingredients to support oral health
  • Very easy to use
  • Weight-specific formulations
  • Highly effective with long-term use
  • Subscription discounts available
Cons
  • Some dogs may not like the taste
  • A little pricey
  • Only one container size per formulation

Powerful Natural Ingredients

Every ingredient included in this natural supplement is backed by years of research. From the probiotic strains that help maintain balance in the mouth biome to the natural extracts that fight inflammation and strengthen tooth enamel, this one supplement has it all.

Easy to Use

Brushing your dog’s teeth every day can be a challenge. Yearly dental cleanings are too expensive for most pet owners to bite off. This supplement is a far easier and more affordable alternative.

Simply add a scoop of the specially formulated powder to your dog’s meal once a day.

Preventative and Prescriptive

The unique blend of active ingredients in this supplement does as much to prevent dental disease as it does to fight it. This means your dog will benefit from its use whether they have sparkly-white puppy teeth or have already developed “senior stink breath.”

Is ProBright a Good Value?

For such a small container, you might be surprised by the cost of this product. It certainly costs more than most doggy toothpastes out there. But much of what you’re paying for is the convenience and the results.

The price of similar oral support supplements varies greatly. But when you consider the ingredients used, this supplement is actually fairly well-priced compared to the competition. This is especially true if you take advantage of the 20% off subscription option.

FAQ

Can all dogs use ProBright?

Any dog over the age of 12 weeks can use ProBright daily as part of their healthy oral routine.

Does it need to stick to my dog’s teeth to work?

Some of the ingredients in ProBright get to work the second they hit your dog’s mouth. Others are absorbed into their system through their digestive tract. Don’t worry about applying the powder directly to your dog’s teeth, instead, let them eat it along with their food.

Do I need to use it every day?

The biofilm that causes tartar begins to form within 12 hours of eating. Within 48 hours, it hardens to a dense plaque that is difficult to remove. Using this supplement every day ensures no new plaque develops.

Does ProBright help fight bad breath?

Most bad breath is caused by tartar buildup and the bacteria that make tartar. By destroying this bad bacteria and preventing tartar from forming, ProBright helps stop dog breath in its tracks.

Our Experience With Petlab Co.

My senior Dalmatian mix, Ragz, has struggled with dental problems since she was about seven years old. She has a genetic predisposition to periodontal disease, particularly, periodontal pockets. This means, she is prone to developing pockets of infection under her gum line, which ultimately attacks the tooth root and kills the tooth.

Because of this, she has had more than half of her teeth pulled. We’ve tried hard to preserve her remaining teeth with brushing and water picking every day, but keeping up with it is a lot of work.

That’s why I was so excited to try Pet Lab Co.’s ProBright. Being able to support Ragz’s oral health with a supplement would be a lot less work than having to wrestle her to brush her teeth every day.

I ordered the medium-size dog ProBright supplement and began adding one scoop to Ragz’s breakfast every day. Compared to many other supplements, the serving size is rather large—a full teaspoon. But she didn’t seem to mind the flavor, and adding a little water to her kibble made it easier for her to eat.

I noticed the first change after about two weeks. Her teeth looked visibly cleaner each time I went to brush them. And even after missing her daily brushing for a day or two, I didn’t notice any slimy film on her teeth.

It took longer for the powder to affect her breath. Even with daily oral care, she has the worst old lady dog breath! This started to improve at about the three-week mark.

After a month of giving her ProBright every day, there was a noticeable difference in how white and clean her teeth looked. She didn’t develop any plaque over the course of the month, despite a long four-day weekend without brushing. And her bad breath is steadily improving.

I think it will take a few more months of using the product to gauge whether or not it will have an effect on the pockets of infection she has or on the development of new pockets. Because these pockets are still present, I will continue brushing and water-picking her teeth daily. But adding ProBright to the routine is easy enough that I am happy to keep using it.

I wish I had discovered a product like this when Ragz was still young. I think it could have made a huge difference in her oral health had I started using it before she developed periodontal disease. It is definitely something I will consider using from day one with my next dog.

Conclusion

If you want an easier way to support your dog’s oral health, it really doesn’t get any easier than PetLab Co.’s ProBright. This simple-to-use supplement goes on their food once a day to help fight bad bacteria, prevent tartar buildup, and freshen breath—all without brushing.

While this supplement did a ton to help my dog with advanced periodontal disease, I believe it could be even more effective at maintaining oral health in dogs who have not yet developed dental disease.

Whether you have a puppy with perfect teeth, an adult battling tartar, or a senior struggling with dental health, ProBright is absolutely worth adding to your doggy oral health arsenal.
